Day Six: 1967 Summer of Love

Once the news got out, everybody wanted to be part of the scene. The scene was not only located in the Haight-Ashbury neighborhood, but was taken to such places as Los Angeles and Toronto, Canada. This November Monday is an exploration of this wonderous year. The big difference in the sound from the privious year is that music has expanded out of the tight constraits that had held the jams in control. The music is more like a raging beast that prowls and builds up for an assult on the senses. This pent-up psychic energy grows stronger as the year climbs month by month. It is really too bad that they were overlooked at Monterey: thier contribution to the soundtrack or the film would have given them some credit were credit was deserved. They say that they played poorly, but it was really because of where they were on the schedule between The Who and Jimi Hendrix. They are all in the Rock and Roll HOF, but there you go again with that place.

This is what is being played today from this drive. This should be about eleven hours of bliss.
